Three local beauty spots, the Almadenes Canyon, the Sierra de Alcorchon, and the Fuente del Rey, were set alight during yesterday evening´s electric storm and fire fighters have worked throughout the night to try and contain the blazes.
The situation in the region of Murcia, where another fire is currently raging through mountain slopes near Lorca, has been declared a Level 2 Emergency and the national emergency force, UME, was called in the early hours of this morning.
Some 210 soldiers, 58 vehicles, are currently fighting four fires in Murcia with the back up of helicopters.
The latest information is that  the fires are still active and uncontrolled. In Cieza some 320 hectares of pines, bushes and lower mountain slopes have burned adjacent ot the Alamadenes Canyon.  Three new seats of fire were discovered during the night leading to the evacuation of three cottages.
The fire in Cieza started just after 5pm yesterday evening and during the early hours of the morning was declared a Level 2 Danger. In the Sierra del Almorchon some 50 hectares has burned. The other two fires started shortly afterwards. All were the result of lightening strikes.
The Met Office is warning of high temperatures today, around 39 degrees, and more electric storms this evening.
