The Socialist and the United Left parties have proposed a joint motion for tonight’s full Town Hall meeting calling on the Catholic Church to pay IBI (Council Tax) on all its properties in the municipal area.
A similar measure has been introduced recently in many municipal areas all over Spain where the Catholic Church is a major property owner but, traditionally, is exempt from paying council tax.
The meeting, at 8.30pm in the Sala de Actos, will also be asked by the United Left party to reconsider reinstating the municipal minibus service which was cut from June 4.
An increase in local taxes, including the charges for civil marriages and civil partnerships, will also be proposed.
