A spotter plane to identify and prevent forest fires and three helicopters to extinguish blazes will be put into operation six weeks earlier than last year.
The motive is various fires in the “montes” of the region (four in little more than 24 hours) and the hot, dry weather.
The resources of the regional firefighting plan, Plan Infomur, are the same every year although, this year, the plan has been brought forward by a month and a half.
The regional government of Murcia is waiting for the green light for a plane of Coordination and Vigilance with a base in the Sierra de la Pila and the three helicopters to be operational from April 16.
