If you are not eligible for healthcare in Spain you may consider applying for the Convenio Especial, before you take out expensive private medical insurance.
Obviously, if you are a pensioner or are working here in Spain you will probably be eligible for full public healthcare. But there are many people who fall between the rules and are obliged to take out private healthcare. Or are they?
The Convenio Especial presents an opportunity for many people to access public healthcare in Spain.
You must have been registered at the Town Hall for a minimum of 12 months (with a Padrón) and you must pay, in Murcia region, 60 euros a month.
You medical history does not affect your application and you must pay prescription charges in full.
