At a special Harvest Festival mass in the Saints Church last weekend a local farmer received the annual agricultural tribute, which is in the gift of the Brotherhood of the local saints Abdon and Señen.
This year it was the turn of Antonio Garcia Robles, a local rice farmer, who was recognized for the care and cleanliness of his land and his good harvests, especially the ecological grain.
He was given the honour of changing the sprig of rice held by the saints and the Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, was given the honour of changing the bunch of grapes.
He said: “It is an honour for me, as a Calasparrian, to renew this bunch of grapes and give thanks to the Brotherhood of the Saints. My sincere congratulations to Antonio Garcia for his great work as a local farmer.”
