The Lágrimas de San Lorenzo, the shooting stars habitual in August, produced a brilliant ball of fire crossing the sky above Calasparra on early Sunday morning and again this morning, Monday.
This is not the first time a ball of fire has been spotted above Calasparra, however, the incident some years ago turned out to be space junk that landed in several parts of the municipal area.
This recent ball of fire came from a comet that was flying across the sky in central and east Spain and was spotted over Calasparra.

Editorś Note:
Now they say it was a gigantic piece of space junk that ecploded and disintegrated as it hit the earth’s atmosphere. The other explanation was more poetic!!
Don´t miss the Perseides folks! They are usually spectacular!!
