The opening speech of the Fiestas,and coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the canonization of Our Lady of Hope at the Sanctuary on Saturday night was in the hands of former Mayor of Calasparra and current Government Delegate in Murcia, José Velez.
The speech was widely acclaimed and very well received as our former Mayor extolled the virtues of Calasparra, the Sanctuary and Our Lady of Hope.
In this emotional speech he invited everyone to come to Calasparra to discover its “natural beauty, the grandeur and importance which is Calasparra.”
Following the speeches the Association Band of Music gave an open air concert in the Sanctuary Square.
