Freezing temperatures over night have produced the first frost in the countryside outside Calasparra which is the perfect present for the sprouts currently maturing on their stems.
The ecological vegetable stall outside the gates of Cine Rosales, Calasparra, on Friday´s weekly market, is hopeful that the sprouts, Swedes and parsnips will be ready for Christmas.
This week the stall features crisp, pungent celery and fresh white leeks as well as Swiss Chard, spinach, turnips, tomatoes, cabbages, broccoli, radishes, beetroot and much more.
However, midday shoppers are often disappointed to find the produce virtually sold out. So if you want to buy some of the only organic vegetables available in Calasparra, picked fresh for the market, make the stall your first port of call to avoid disappointment.
