Fire Prevention in Calasparra is a serious business and yesterday (Sunday) the volunteers from the Fire and Forestry Brigade were cutting fire breaks and clearing branches and dried vegetation on the bottom slopes of Los Lomas.
After the terrible fire on the Sierra del Molino this summer the evidence of the extensive and long lasting damage to our local environment is there for everyone to see. Every year these groups of volunteers cut the bottom branches off the tall pines and clear the mounds of dried vegetation and dead branches which would fuel the flames.
The team is currently working at the back of the Tierra del Sol urbanization along the path to Los Viveros and the Sanctuary.
