The Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal group based in Calasparra dedicated to robbing copper cable and other metal materials in the North West area of the Murcia region.
During various simultaneous investigations into the therft of copper cable officers have cleared up a dozen robberies committed in Calasparra and Moratalla.
The group of six people forced entry into private homes, industrial warehouses, business premises and electric installations where they robbed copper cable, tubes, taps and other metal objects. They stored the materials they stole, extracting the copper cable which they sold in waste disposal sites in the region.
During the operation of the Guardia Civil discovered the site where the stolen material was stored and confirmed that the group acted in an organized manner, previously studying their targets and taking measures to avoid detection.
The six members of the group were arrested and are being investigated for other robberies using force.
