Sales of tobacco in the region of Murcia fell by 15.74% between January and September this year compared to the same period last year according to figures published by the Commission for the Tobacco Market.
This drop in sales is one percent less than the national average of 16.47%.
The decline in tobacco consumption has been attributed to the Tobacco Law introduced in January which bans smoking in most public places including bars and restaurants.
Although the sale of cigarettes has fallen dramatically, from 313.2 million packets to 298.8 million, the sale of rolling tobacco has increased from 125,565 k in 2010 to 165,029 k.
