Some 16 local
residents are growing their own vegetables in allotments provided by the local
Department of the Environment.
The Head of the Department, Ricardo García, visited the Urban Gardens and the
Land Bank on Monday. He is largely responsible for the project which aims to
encourage self-employment by offering allotments to local residents for 32
euros annually.
One of the new tenants is Rafael Ruiz, pictured here with Ricardo. He is growing
ecological broccoli and says: “I never use any type of sulphar. Nature is wise and it knows I will have a good harvest, which makes me very
proud.”
If you are
interested in growing your own on your own allotment you can get more
information at the Town Hall.
