The only injury in the first bull run of the September fiestas this morning, Tuesday, was a young runner who was bruised after being attacked by one of the bulls at the Cuatro Esquinas, which separated from the pack.
He was taken to the field hospital where Dr. Ricardo Robles treated him for bruising.
The run took just two minutes and six seconds from the coral to the bull ring.
Hundreds of spectators crammed onto and around the barriers to watch this, the first encierro of the fiestas.
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, carried out an inaugural walk along the route from the coral to the bull ring, accompanied by the statue of Our Lady of Hope from the Sanctuary.
The fiestas continue with the International Folklore Festival this evening (see full fiesta programme on this webpage).
