From today, Thursday January 9, 2025, banks in Spain cannot charge an extra amount for money transfers with immediate effect to their destinations.
This is established in the new European Regultion that obliges financial entities in all member states to eliminate these charges.
As well as prohibiting extra charges the regulations, from October 2025, the service of immediate ordinary money transfers must be offered to customers in any currency, within Europe, without extra charges.
These commissions have varied from 0.95 euros of Sabadell up to 12 euros de Bankinter, and include 6 euros of Santander, to the minimum of 5.94 euros de Caixabank; 4 euros of Openbank and 1.50 euros of Abanca and 1.25 euros of BBVA.
