A Text Book Bank, which compliments the existing system of borrowing text books, has been set up by the Town Hall in conjunction with AMPAS and local schools to help alleviate the expense of education materials for cash strapped parents.
The scheme has been introduced as the “Bono Libro,” a series of discounts, is repealed. It also aims to encourage “solidarity and responsibility” among school children and encourage them to care for their text books.
The Department of Education is calling on parents to collaborate with this new initiative which will include text books for infant and primary school pupils not currently available under the “lending scheme.”
