At 8pm this evening the emergency services fighting the forest fire in the Florida and the Molino Hills called in the services of an amphibious aeroplane and a Kamov helicopter from Castilla la Mancha.
At 8.20pm the forestry brigades from Fortuna and Ricota were called in to reinforce the 80 strong team of fire fighters attempting to halt the progress of the flames which could be seen licking the summits of the Molino hills.
A Level 1 alert was issued under the General Plan of Infomur at 7pm when the fire began to veer across the slopes and summits of the Molino and 15 volunteers, two four wheel drive ambulances and a vehicle to provide logistical assistance on the ground, were deployed to the area of the fire.
The fire is believed to have started in an agricultural area and rapidly spread to the hill slopes due to the evening breeze.
Brigades from Alcantarilla, Zarcilla de Ramos and Pila with three helicopter transporters, environmental officers and technicians, a helicopter to coordinate the air forces, rapid reaction forces from Cieza, Mula, Blanca, Cehegin, Murcia and Moratalla, a team of five fire fighters and two fire engines from Caravaca and six fire fighters and three fire engines from Cieza, supported the Calasparra fire fighters at the blaze.
At 9pm tonight there were still no reports that the blaze was under control.
