The annual pilgrimage from the Sanctuary to Calasparra, carrying the statue of Our Lady of Hope for her traditional sojourn in the town, will be held on May 1.
There will be free buses to the Sanctuary from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, leaving from Bar Pepon, for those who want to join the pilgrimage.
The procession will leave the Sanctuary at 5pm and is expected to arrive in Calasparra at 8pm, when the statues of the Patron Saints of Calasparra will be brought out for a meeting at the gates of the Caverina Football Ground. The OAPs music group, la Rondalla, will provide traditional entertainment.
Every year the residents of Calasparra decorate their balconies and throw rose petals at the procession. The prettiest street, with a carpet of fresh rosemary for the occasion, is usually Calle Socovos.
