WANT TO SPEAK CALASPARRIAN?

Most of us have enough problems trying to master basic Spanish and we struggle to understand the local dialect which seems to mainly consist of knocking the ends of every word.
However, this week a local resident has published a book of Calasparrian words, called “Parabrario calasparreño” which includes words and expressions originating from the dialect Panocho, used in the Murcian countryside.
Many of the expressions in the book have been passed down through the generations and are still used today in Calasparra.
The author, Juan Antonio de Moya Botía, has collated three thousand local words and expressions.
“I have dedicated thousands of hours compiling this vocabulary over the past five years, with the idea of providing a writtren record. My mother spoke in Panocho and she has been my main inspiration, he says.
The book was officially presented last week in the Casa de la Cultura and can be purchased in local newsagents for five euros.
