BENITO FOUNDATION WILL BE INVESTIGATED

The full Town Hall Council Meeting yesterday voted unanimously to create a Special Commission to investigate and follow the legal proceedings concerning Benito Amor, the regional art collector who loaned over two millions euros worth of art and archeological artifacts to Calasparra.
Benito Amor has since been arrrested for allegedly owning illicit and stolen art and the Guardia Civil have searched the Piñero Museum which houses the exhibition.
The opposition were critical of the management of the affair and the lack of information. Various questions concerning the agreement between Calasparra and the art collector and the decision to suspend said agreement were raised.
José Vélez,  Mayor of Calasparra, told the meeting a letter had been sent to the President of the Benito Foundation, Benito Amor, asking for precise information with which “we can begin to take decisions”, he said. “Some precautionary measures had already been taken.” “Regardless of what is happening now, the agreement with the Benito Amor Foundation meant that Calasparra has been able to manage what is probably the most important art collection in the region,” he added.
