APPEAL FOR VICTIMS OF ART THEFTS

The Guardia Civil has appealed for victims of art thefts and the robbery of archeological artifacts found in Calasparra and Bullas to call the helpline: 968 234 565.
The appeal forms part of an ongoing investigation into regional art collector, Benito Amor, who also “lent” exhibits worth over two million euros to the Piñero Musuem in Calasparra. The Guardia Civil has been searching the musuem as part of a trail of allegedly stolen and illicit works of art.
Victims of crime are being asked to come forward to clarify the precedence and the ownership of objects which have a very high historic value and which have been discovered as part of “Operation Lignum.”
Among the property the Guardia Civil are trying to identify archeoolgical treasures from the Iberic, Argaric and Roman periods including bibliographical information dating back to the XVIII and the XIX centuries from Caravaca del la Cruz, Calasparra, Cehegin and Hellin.
Benito Amor was arrested earlier this week and has since been released on bail. His house in Bullas has also been searched by the Guardia Civil.
