Two local residents found a royal owl, injured and in a poor state, on the ground in Calasparra and thanks to their rapid response the bird has been saved.
The incident happened earlier this month. The owl is currently being cared for by the Department of the Environment through the Wild Life Rescue Centre (Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Silvestre) after local police and the Guardia Civil responded to a call for help from two Calasparrians.
Apparently the bird had been electrocuted.
