When the Guiardia Civil carried out random drugs testing on 356 drivers in the Murcia region some 40% proved postive.
The testing was carried out on February 21.
Over the whole of 2015 out of 1,992 drug tests some 900 drivers showed positive results.
Driving under the influence of drugs on Spanish roads carries a fine of 1,000 euros, six points off your driving licence and three months suspension of your driver´s licence. If it is considered that you have driven dangerously under the influence of drugs this carries a prison sentence of three to six months and a four year suspensionon of your driver´s licence.
