IBI INCREASE WILL BE THE LAST SAYS MAYOR

The Mayor of Calasparra, José Vélez, has declared that this year´s increase in IBI (the equivilant of council tax) will be the last for the near future.
The Mayor explains that it is the Tax Office (Agencia Tributaria) which sets the level of the Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles (IBI) and not the Town Hall. But that the Town Hall had applied for the increase to be spread over the next 10 years pro rata.
He also confirmed that he had had various meetings with the Tax Office to discuss the increase and added that he had applied “for IBI in Calasparra to be revised downwards” and for country properties in non urbanizable areas to be reclassified.
José Vélez hass assured resients that there will be no more increases in the next few years and that the Town Hall continues to seek an agreement with the General Director of the Catastral for the revision of property values in the area.
The General Director of the Catastral has begun to send out to local residents the revaluation of some properties which are either not registered or have changed (due to improvements or new building).
The Mayor urges any residents who wish to appeal these revaluations to do so within the time period allowed and in the correct form, and assures them they will count on the support of the Town Hall.
