If the bull fighting couldn´t fill the bull ring in Calasparra the prospect of top level dressage combined with Sevillanas performed by the delightful Espiga del Oro dance troupe certainly could!! (See Photo Album at the end of this article).
Even a spontaneous shower did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd at the bull ring on Saturday evening who were thrilled by the dancing horses and enchanted by the local dancers.
The evening began with a very young artist who spun her Spanish shawl through the air with expertise as she danced with one of the largest but noblest horses in the event.
Then the evening went from strength to strength with hooves suspended in the air; elegance on two back legs; side ways and backwards steps; and even bows from these equestrian stars.
The intrepid local dance group weaved in and out and around the horses hooves in the confidence that these noble animals would do them no harm.
An absolute delight for everyone who paid a mere three euros to witness this amazing spectacle. Let´s hope there will be many repeat performances!!
