A Calasparrian man, initials J.F.S, has had his jail sentence reduced from eight years to two years because he has paid 40,000 euros in compensation to the man he attempted to kill with his car.
The accused admitted trying deliberately to run down a lorry driver with his car, at a petrol station on the outskirts of Calasparra on April 14, 2009, after arguing with the victim´s father.
The prosecution originally asked for a sentence of eight years but this was reduced to two in a “deal” after the accused admitted the offence and paid 40,000 euros compensation into the court.
