Paola, child of Calasparra, aged 14 months, was diagnosed as suffering from a rare condition, muscular spinal atrophy, when she was three months old and since then both Calasparra and Moratalla have been raising funds to help her.
On Saturday , March 15, the latest benefit concert in aid of Paola, and the Association FUNDAME which supports her, will be held in the Municipal Auditorium. Tickets cost five euros and are available from the Town Hall.
Her grandmother, Encarna Sánchez, says her grand daughter´s life expectancy is short but her family are not giving up and will fight on to the end. Her condition is rare and irreversible for now but, says her grandmother: “It is important to keep investigating to find a cure.”
Next Saturday´s concert stars the Flamenco dancer, Soraya Sánchez. Entitled «Nací en el Mediterráneo» she pays tribute to essence of the South of Spain: its colours and aromas. She will be accompanied by live music.
Even if you don´t want to or can´t attend the concert you can contribute by buying tickets in Row O and the proceeds will go the cause.
