The full Town Hall Committee will meet this Thursday, February 27, for an extraordinary meeting to discuss the three resignations of opposition members of the Partido Popular and to agree a strategy for challenging central government´s plans to reform local administrations.
The first ítem on the agenda will be to formulate a plan of action against central government´s plans to curtail the responsibi lities and funding of local administrations.
The second ítem is the resignation of the three opoosition members following remarks in the national press describing women who have abortions as “terrorists.” The comments were made during a local debate on a central government bill to limit the right to abortions.
The bill remains at draft stage but has caused mass protests in Spain and internationally and has been condemned by the EU as a retrograde step in women´s rights.
