The new system for calculating our electricity bills, which comes into effect from April, will save us up to 3% according to promises made by the Minister of Industry.
From April the system will be changed to directly link the price of electrcitiy to the price on the wholesale market. This effects the variable element of our electricity bills.
The new system means that financial charges included in the “auction” of electricity will disappear saving some 300 million euros. If this saving is passed onto the consumer it should represent savings of 3%, according to the Minister.
