The estimated budge for 2013 was approved with votes from the governing PSOE and the casting vote of the United Left and Green parties at the Full Meeting of the Town Hall last Thursday.
For the United Left and Greens it is important that the estimated budget has been presented in the first few months of year as they had demanded. This permits representatives to control spending and not produce more debt.
The United Left and the Greens will also participate in the construction of a warehouse which will serve as a nursery for new businesses and the party hopes the positive vote for the budget will enable them to bring forward new ideas from their electoral programme.
The Partido Popular believe the accounts are “badly produced” and will result in further debt. However the IU and Grrens are sure that there will be changes in the accounting through a calm process of examination and consultation.
Other themes included a motion in favor of equality for women, which the Partido Popular voted against, and a motion against the reform of local authorities, which the Partido Popular also opposed.
All three parties voted in favour of maintaining the public water board, (la Mnncomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla) which the government proposes to privatize
The IU-Greens presented three questions during the public session. Firstly, asking for a process of expropriation of lands destined for urbanisations which have not been built and where money is owed to the Town Hall.
Secondly, asking for better control of the management company responsible for drinking water in Calasparra, and thirdly, asking for an information meeting for residents to approve the first phase of the General Municipal Ordenance Plan.
