Some 21,800 trees and bushes have been planted in 18 hectares of forest land on the slopes of the Sierra del Molino destroyed by the fire in September 2010.
The replanting of the mountain slopes is part of a project by the General Director of the Environment and the Electricity Network.
A local Forestry Company is carrying out the work providing eight employment posts.
Once the project is completed local environmental and educational volunteers will organize educational visits to raise awareness of the importance of our natural environment and there will be a special work day organized by the Forestry Formation Training Schools of Moratalla.
The repopulation project will cost 65.000 euros and has been funded by the Red Eléctrica through an agreement with the regional government and the company which transports electricity.
