LECTURE ON THE CAVE DRAWINGS AT THE ABRIGOS DE POZO

The Director of the excavations last year at the Abrigos de Pozo, Consuelo Martínez Sánchez, will give a lecture on the latest discoveries at the site to mark the first International Day of the World’s Patrimony called by UNESCO to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of the Convention for the Patrimony of the World, Natural and Cultural in Paris in 1972.
The cave drawings at the Abrigos de Pozo were declared cultural treasures by UNESCO and part of the Patrimony of the World in 1998.
According to the late excavations we know now the Abrigos de Pozo was first inhabitated some 8,000 years ago during the Epipaleolític Age for basic activities such as hunting and fishing and for making tools out of flint.
The lecture will be at 12 midday on Friday in the Casa de la Cultura.
