Members of the Municipal Canoe Club will host the II Open White Water Trials of Murcia tomorrow, Saturday, in Calasparra.
This is an opportunity not only to support these intrepid youngsters, who recently secured fifth place at national trials in Lérida, but also to cheer on our own national champion, Juan Martínez Rodríguez.
Despite being the youngest in his age group Juan was chosen to train with the national white water canoe squad and took fourth place in his category in Lérida.
On Sunday teams from Castilla de la Mancha and Andalusia will take part in the trials which begin at 10.30am near the Municipal Canoe Club, next to the Isle of Tío Juan Vacas.
This is an exciting spectator event set in one of the most picturesque parts of the locality. However, there is little shade on the river bank and readers who are considering supporting this event may consider taking a sunshade, wearing hats, sun cream and glasses and taking plenty of cold water.
