In a meeting in Calasparra with the Head of the regional Health Service the Mayoress, Teresa Garcia, repeated demands to expand the local Emergency Services and reduce the waiting lists.
Calasparra Town Hall underlined the singular geography of Calasparra and the distance with various hospitals as special circumstances for the provision of an adequate emergency service for the area.
In turn, the Head of the Regional Health Service explained that various possible ways of expanding the service were being considered but any action was affected by the general lack of medical staff.
Teresa Garcia also expresed her profound concern and that of local residents for long waiting lists for primary health as well as for appointments to see consultants.
Following the meeting the Town Hall hopes the region will look for solutions and put in place the measures that serve the principal medical needs of Calasparra.
