Calasparra Town Hall and the Segura Water Board (Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura) supervised the last phase of the recuperation of the course of the river Segura around the Cañar Water Mill, finished in time for the summer season.
The delegation included the President of the Water Board, Mario Urrea;the Water Comissioner, Ana María Arenas; the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa García; and Councillors of the Environment, Pablo Cassinello, and of Works and Urban Matters, Juan Bernal; plus the Director Engineer of the Water Board Works, José Ángel Pacheco; with technicians from the Water Board.
The project has been harmonized with the traditional use of this part of the river, including the river beach and use by the local Canoe Club, as well as improving the environmental quality of the environment.
The work has included the development of the two river banks which have been cleared and the canes cut down. The banks have been protected and access steps built for bathers and a ramp for the Canoe Club.
This project reinforces the recuperation of the Segura river as a natural space for leisure activities, according to the Town Hall.
