La Ruta del Bayo footpath, part of the Rutas del Arroz, has been recognized with a prestigious flag, the Sendero Azul: the first one received by Calasparra.
The «flag» was officially received by the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, in a ceremony at the Institute of Tourism of the Murcia region, (ITREM), in the presence of the Head of the regional Department of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Carmen Conesa Nieto; the Director of ITREM, Juan Francisco Martínez; the President of ADEAC, José Palacios Aguilar; and representatives of promoting companies.

In order to receive the Sendero Azul it is essential to demonstrate the characteristics of the footpath; signing and infrastructure; conservation of the natural and cultural patrimony; and public use and accessibility.
