A joint operation between the Guardia Civil and the Local Police has resulted in the arrest of a suspect in 15 burglaries of country properties in Calasparra and other nearby areas such as Cehegin.
The operation, codenamed «Tairus», began in October when a sharp increase in burglaries from isolated houses in the country and agricultural properties generated great concern amongst residents in the area.

According to the authorities the arrested man used a methodical modus operandi and showed a profound knowledge of the area. This allowed him to move rapidly and return home undetected. He even stole fuel from other vehicles to avoid being identified on the security cameras at petrol stations.
Through three weeks of vigilance and control as well as a detailed analysis of the case the officers managed to identify the suspect, who was arrested in possesion of stolen tools that he used to gain access to the properties.

The man arrested, Spanish and with a long criminal record, will appear before magistrates.
During the operation various items of stolen property have been recovered and returned to their owners.
