Tomorrow, December 28, is the Day of the Innocents in Calasparra and Juan Pelotero will be about in the Town Centre with pranks and punishments!!
This traditional local street character forms part of the ancestral history and traditional culture of Calasparra and every December 28 he parades through the streets wreaking his special kind of chaos.
The origins of the character date back to the XV century. He is accompanied by his «gang» made up of a Clerk, A Judge and a Jailor. They carry a baton, a quill pen and symbols of the authority to fine anyone they come across for any ridiculous idea that ocurrs to them.
