ARCHEOLOGICAL DIG BEGINS WITH AN APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Structures have already begun to emerge and numerous discoveries of metal and coins as work to clear shubbery and clean the area of the  Cerro de la Virgen where archeologists hope to date the archeological site as V-VII BC.
Lines of walls have already begun to emerge in the northern area of the hill where work has already begun and coins and other metals discovered on the surface  confirming the hipotesis presented during the prospection of the site in 2021.
Volunteers are carrying out the clearing and cleaning work under the supervision of Dr. David Martínez Chico (University of  Valencia) and Rubén Fernández Tristan, profesional archeologist. Yesterday they were assisted by the Head of the local Department of Culture and Patrimony, Antonio Merino.
The team have launched another appeal for volunteers interested in the history of Calasparra.
