REGION REMOVE OLD FENCING AROUND LA HUERTECICA

As part of a 22,805 euros environmental project in the region 184 metres of old fencing, in a poor state of repair at the Huertecica in the Cañaversoa Natural Park, has been removed.
The project of the regional Department of Environment, Universitites and Mar Menor, has removed a total of 1,240 metres of old fencing in a dozen Protected Spaces of the Natural Network 2000. in Calasparra, Moratalla, Caravaca and Murcia with EU funds FEDER.
The fencing protected areas of singular interest from grazing stock and wild animals but, with the passage of time, has been invaded by exotic vegetation or has fallen down, presenting a danger to wildlife, especially animals and with a negative effect on the landscape.
The work in the Cañaversoa Natrual Park finished last week but will continue next year with conservation work, the defence of antural values in the Park and of environmental education and the improvement of the park for sustainable public use.
The first stage of  environmental work by ANSE to extend the riverside forests of the Park has also finished. The land, formerly orchards which had been abandoned, have been replanted with trees native to the area, an irrigation sytem installed, the entrance to the area cleared and much of the invasive canes removed.
