INTERNATIONAL GAY PRIDE DAY

This day every year Calasparra Town Hall joins the world to commemorate the Stonewall disturbances in 1969, and to reaffirm pride of identity and sexual orientation of traditionally marginalized and oppressed genders.
The rainbow banner of Gay Pride, LGTBI+, is proudly dusplayed on the balcony of the Town Hall to highlight and celebrate the existence of these groups in society and their equal rights.
The Town Hall statement underlines the words in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: «All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, and declares » we should all work towards this as a goal.»
Calasparra Town Hall states it » is committed to promoting the rights of of the LGTBI+ community and to educate and sensitize the population about the importance of equality and respect and support those who face violence and discrimination. We strive to guarantee that every individual in our town lives freely, without fear and without fear of being judged or discriminated against: to be who they are and love who they love.»
Editors Note:
Unfortunately, this year many regional and local governments in Spain are refusing to hand the rainbow banner to mark International Gay Pride Day. Nexonr is proud to be represented by a local government which stands up against bigotry and oppression and the marginalization of groups in our society who are perceived as being «different».
