Medical advice is for people in vulnerable groups is to wear masks in crowded enclosed areas as the numbers of patients suffering from coronavirus increased in the region this week.
Infections of coronavirus in the region have increased in the last week to 667 compared to 179 in the middle of May and 481 cases last week. This represents an increase of 38.7% in a week and 43.5 cases per 100,000 head of population in the region.
There has been a national increase in the number of Covid cases but Dr Bernal of Infections at the Reina Sofia Hospital, Murcia, explains that the increase in the region is more evident since the middle of May.
Dr Bernal explains that Covid is not seasonal, like for example flu, and the variant BA2.86 is increasing in a very clear form:
The cases of Covid are generally not serious, manifesting in the form of general catarrh, but, says Dr Bernal, hospital admissions are increasing.
