The King of Spain, Felipe VI, has acccepted the invitation to be the President of Honour of the 40th Anniversary of the DOP (Denomination of Origin) of Calasparra Rice 2026.
The DOP Arroz Calasparra has received the official notification (featured with this article) from the Spanish Royal House accepting the invitation, which is «an immense honour and matter of pride» for the rice growers, declares the Association.
The Denomination of Origin Calasparra was provisionally approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Food on November 2, 1982, and final approval was given in 1986 making Calasparra rice the first to obtain the Denomination of Origin in the world.
