The DGT (General Director of Traffic) has clarified the rules regarding warning triangles, used in case of accident or breakdown to alert other road users. of a stationary vehicle.
The triangles should not be used on motorways or autovias from July 1 because of the danger from fast moving traffic. A flashing warning light (V-16) placed on the roof of you car is a safe alternative.
In the past five years there have been 22 fatal accidents involving drivers placing or removing warning triangles on these types of roads.
However, the triangles are obligatory on every other type of road until they are replaced by the obligatory warning light in 2016.
