The Guardia Civil have issued a warning that scammers are masquerading as banks and asking for personal details and account numbers.
The scammers have a new ploy which is to use a telephone number that apparently corresponds to your bank so if you ring it and check it will inidicate it is a message from your bank. The scammers also ask for the account number etc to be keyed and not spoken into voice mail.
The Guardia Civil advise that your bank will NEVER ask for your account number or password as they have this information on file. The bank may ask security questions which include details such as your parents¨names or your place or birth. However, these days it is more common that they will send you a different security code to use on every occasion you contact them.
So just to repeat the advice of the Guardia Civil. Never under any circumstances key in the account number or password of your bank. This is a scam and the scammers aim to clean out all the money in your bank account!!!
If in doubt do not respond to messages but go personally to your bank and check out the query.
