The Government Delegate and former mayor of Calasparra, Pepe Velez, chaired a special local security meeting called to ensure that the September fiesta week is safe.
Velez noted there would be extra Guardia Civil officers «during Calasparra´s big week»; 13 ambulances with life support capacity; medical support and medical personal in the Bull Ring; and a Pûnta Violeta» with professionals to attend cases of sexist violence, attend to victims and provide information and prevention materials.
The Head of local Citizen Security and the Chief of the local police detailed the Security Plan which will be put into action during the fiestas and the large security, medical and preventative force which will be employed at all the events including the bull runs, concerts, fiesta areas etc.
There have also been pre-fiesta alcohol and drugs awareness campaigns to encourage responsible consumption.

The Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, underlined statistics from the Ministry of the Interior which indicated that «Calasparras is a safe and exemplary town.»
Velez indicated that the criminal index in Calasparra had fallen by 6.10% in 2021 thanks to the efficacy and coordination of the local police and Guardia Civil during arrests and police interventions. The arrest record in Calasparra had increased by 18%, he said
