SAHARA DUST MAKES AIR QUALITY DANGEROUS

The golden twilight which fascinated us all yesterday has brought dust from the Sahara to Calasparra and rendered the air quality very poor and  dangeorus for the elderly and those with any respiratory problems.
The advice from Calasparra Town Hall is for anyone with respiratory problems to avoid any physical exercise  or exertion, inside or outside until the air quality improves.
Advice is to avoid driving on main roads or driving at all, if not essential, during the periods when  the air quality is at its worse ie. early in the morning, late in the evening and at any time when there is a lot of traffic.
If any reader experiences difficulty breathing, heart problems (palpitations and/or wheezing) they should consult a doctor immediately, reduce physical activities and sport andrestrict going outside to short periods of little or no exertion.
The dust is expected to hang around all of today, Tuesday and possibly tomorrow.
Nexonr will aim to keep you informed of any changes in air quality or you can go to the webpage of the «Consejería de Agua, Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Medio Ambiente,» and consult «calidad de aire» (air quality).
