The number of active Covid-19 cases in the region has hit a record and currently stands at 30,786 cases, 10,000 more than the same time last week.
More bad news is the death toll from the virus keeps rising with six more deaths in the last 24 hours, five men and one woman, ages 62, 68, 74, 76, 77 and 86 years.
The regional Covid Monitoring Committee has decided to suspend family to visit to residential homes from tomorrow, Wednesday, for 15 days, in order to try and prevent contagion amongst this vulnerable group by the Omicron variant.
