SIX COVID DEATHS IN THE REGION IN 24 HOURS

As the Murcia region is re-classified as “level 4,” that is high risk of contagion by Covid-19, six more people have died of the virus in the last 24 hours.
Although the number of new contagions is lower than recent statistics the regional Health Authority has confirmed that the number of contagions are 60% higher this week than last. (Today´s lower statistic is probably due to the lack of testing over the weekend and fiesta days).
The Covid fatalities were three men and three women ages 56, 59, 62, 76, 84 and 86 years.
According to the regional statistics, for the 24 hours ending at midnight on January 9, there were 32 new cases confirmed in Calasparra. However, the report from the North West Murcia region records the number of new cases at 22. This discrepancy could be due to different counting periods.
According to the North West Murcia report there are 169 active cases of the virus in Calasparra with 22 new; in Caravaca there are 594 with 47 new; in Cehegin 283 with 39 new; and in Moratalla 206 with 26 new.
The table below shows the statistics for the whole Murcia region. The last detailed statistics were on published on January 5. There are not detailed regional statistics published on fiesta days (January &) January or at weekends.
