The number of contagions in the Murcia region has increased by 99% over the last week and the regional Department of Health estimates that one to two percent of the new cases are the new variant Omicron.
Yesterday a 32 year old woman became the first confirmed cases of Omicron in the region.
There were 750 new cases of the virus confirmed in the last 24 hours in the region bringing the total of active cases to 9,945.
The number of in-patients with Covid-19 stands at 220 with 45 in intensive care, of which 63% have not been vaccinated.
Sadly, a 77 year old man has died of the virus in the last 24 hours.
