The much debated new Town Hall will become reality at last, and local architects are invited to put forward their plans for the 1,100,000 euro project.
Back in the heady days of the housing boom in 2008 Calasparra Town Hall was given a grant of 700,000 euros from CARM (regional government) to realise the project. The local Town Hall must contribute the remaining 400,000 euros but would lose the grant if the project is not finished by 2025.
The Mayoress, Teresa Garcia, and the Head of the local Department of Urban Development, Antonio Merino, have launched a competition for qualified architects, individuals or teams, to submit their plans for the new seat of local government in Calasparra.
First prize will receive the contract for the project plus fees of 69,000 euros plus IVA. Second prize will be 3,000 euros and third prize will be 1,500 euros.
“In order not to lose the grant, which covers a grand part of the project, we have decided to make a great effort to finance the demolition of the Casa del Maestros to make way for the new Town Hall building”, said the Mayoress at a presentation in the Town Hall.
